GTA 6 is the first game in the series where the natural world looks like a genuine feature, not set dressing — fitting for a state built on the Florida Everglades.
The official trailers for GTA 6 put wildlife front and center in a way no previous Grand Theft Auto has. Set in Leonida — Rockstar's take on Florida — the world spans neon beaches, the tropical Keys, the Grassrivers wetlands, and the northern wilds of Mount Kalaga, each with its own animal life visible in official footage.
Rockstar's trailers have shown a range of Leonida wildlife including the American alligator (the unofficial mascot of the Grassrivers swamplands), wading birds and flamingos along the coast and wetlands, dolphins and marine life off the Keys, and various birds and creatures across the beaches and backcountry. The Grassrivers region's official description leans directly into this — "gators get the fame, but the stranger things live deeper."
The prominence of animals in the trailers suggests a more reactive natural world, consistent with the leap Rockstar made with wildlife in Red Dead Redemption 2. Exactly how players will interact with Leonida's ecosystem — hunting, fishing, or simply coexisting — will be confirmed at launch. What's certain from the official materials: the swamp, the coast, and the wilderness are alive.
This page covers only animals visible in Rockstar's official trailers and materials. We don't publish invented "wildlife databases" with fictional spawn points or behaviors — those can't exist before the game does. After November 19, 2026, this becomes a real field guide.
